Before coming to King's, I served as Rector of St. George's Parish in Halifax's inner city for 16 years. During that time I founded an inner-city youth ministry (Saint George's YouthNet) and a programme to deliver university level teaching to persons living in material poverty who otherwise would never have the chance for such intellectual challenge (Halifax Humanities 101). Since leaving the parish ministry for university chaplaincy I have continued my involvement in advocacy work for the disadvantaged in the inner city.

A reservist military chaplain for 20 years, in 2003 I deployed to the Israel/Syria border for six months, ministering to Canadian and UN troops during the beginning of the American invasion of Iraq. During this time I was able to travel throughout Syria, Israel and the Sinai, worshipping regularly with small Christian congregations in the Galilee. My prayer life since has been constant with the yearning for a non-violent resolution of the heart-rending situation in Israel/Palestine.

As Anglican Chaplain to Dalhousie University I am a member of its Multi-Faith team of fourteen chaplains and associates. I particularly encourage students to think and pray deeply about the urgent justice issues facing our world, whether social, cultural, economic or environmental.

As Chaplain to the University of King's College I participate in all aspects of College life as much as time allows. I am always available to students for spiritual direction, counseling and chat. I provide means for all King's students to become involved in 'hands on' advocacy work in the Halifax community.

As Priest-in-Charge of King's College Chapel I encourage and offer support to the many students who are providing strong and inspired leadership for the diverse activities and initiatives of the chapel community. I particularly challenge students in their university years to touch the deepest roots of our culture and humanity through ancient and informed theurgy.

A quick tour of this website will give you an indication of the diverse and enthusiastic Chapel community that is eager to welcome you warmly to join their fellowship.
